ENGLISH

Recent technological developments have resulted in dramatic progress being made in this field, and we now know that the journey of Homo sapiens was far more complex than previously imagined.

This exhibition explores the history of Japan from the Paleolitic Age to the Kofun period with excavated ancient human bones, archaeological artifacts, and high-resolution CG images of ancient human skulls. It also features Hokkaido and the Ryukyu Islands whose cultures and histories differ from that of mainland Japan (the islands of Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu). Another feature is about the dogs and cats that have long had close relationships with human beings, presenting the history of their arrival in Japan and how they lived with Japanese people, as revealed through methods such as DNA analysis.
